Like the Fashion planet during Fashion Week, the film industry vibrates to the rhythm of its award ceremonies! Lady Gaga connects them and was still out on Wednesday evening. After the Critics Choice Awards and the BAFTAs, the pop icon continues her parade of looks, this time under the admiring eyes of her mother…
On Wednesday March 16, 2022, Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) and her mother Cynthia Germanotta went to the TAO Downtown, in New York. Mother and daughter attended the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, a ceremony organized by the NYFCC (New York Film Critics Circle). The circle in turn honored the outstanding works of the past year and their protagonists. Lady Gaga received the award for Best Actress for her role in the film House Of Gucci.
Stunning in a black Jason Wu dress, Lady Gaga accepted her award to the applause of the audience. In House of Gucci, a film inspired by real events, Lady Gaga plays the character of Patrizia Reggiani, ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, former CEO of Gucci and grandson of the house’s founder, Guccio Gucci. Maurizio was murdered by a hitman, outside his company’s headquarters in Milan on March 27, 1995, a year and a half after he sold the rest of his Gucci shares to the Emirati investment group Investcorp, for a sum between 150 and $200 million. Patrizia Reggiani and their two daughters, Allegra and Alessandra, attended his funeral.
Patrizia Reggiani was arrested on January 31, 1997 by the Milan police, with two accomplices wiretapped during the investigation. They had revealed during telephone exchanges that Patrizia Reggiani was the sponsor of the murder. She had agreed to pay the sum of 610 million lire (just over 315,000 euros in old Italian currency) to the author of the assassination.
Lady Gaga and her mom weren’t the only special guests at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband Peter Sarsgaard, director Martin Scorsese, Alana Haim (singer of the HAIM trio and heroine of the film Licorice Pizza) and Renate Reinsve also attended the event.
