El Chapo The son of notorious medicine lord  , Ovidio Guzman, alias “ El Raton ”(“the Mouse ”), indicted of leading a combination body, was arrested in the northwest of the country, Thursday, January 5, in an operation followed by violent exchanges of fire.

Mexican security forces on Thursday( January 5th) captured Ovidio Guzman, one of the sons of notorious medicine lord judged in the United States, Joaquin” El Chapo” Guzman, during an operation carried out in the northwest of the country which was followed by violent firefights and burning of vehicles, with one dead and 28 wounded.

Ovidio Guzman, aka “ El Raton ”( “ the Mouse ”), was arrested in Culiacan, capital of Sinaloa state. He’s indicted of leading the “ Los Menores body, linked to the Pacific combination ”, another name for the Sinaloa combination, blazoned the clerk of defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval.

This combination was innovated four decades ago by” El Chapo”, locked for life in the United States.

Transferred to Mexico City

This arrest comes three days before the appearance in Mexico of US President Joe Biden. The United States offered five million bones for the prisoner of the sons of Joaquin” El Chapo” Guzman.

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard denied that the arrest was a gesture by his government towards Washington and ruled out any” express” repatriation of” El Raton”.

The 32- time–old man designated as a medicine dealer was transferred on an Air Force aeroplane to Mexico City, where he was first heard by the execution. 

Images broadcast by original media show Ovidio Guzman, bearded and wearing an orange vest, also boarding a copter in the direction of the captivity of El Altiplano, from where his father had escaped in 2015.

 According to several Mexican media, citing civil sources, another leader of the Sinaloa combination has been arrested.

Firefights

In,Culiacan, violent exchanges of fire between security forces and fortified men followed the arrest and several vehicles were set on fire. A public guard was killed and 28 people rehabilitated, Sinaloa state governor Ruben Rocha said.

In particular, blowups took place at the megacity‘s field, where breakouts were suspended. An airliner and a military aircraft were hit by pellets, said the company Aeromexico and the government.

Footage circulating on social media showed passengers groveling to escape pellets, and field workers hiding behind their counters.

Clan of “ Los Chapitos ”

Ovidio Guzman is the best- known member of the” Los Chapitos” clan, which also includes his three sisters Joaquin, Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo, who are also involved in medicine trafficking, according to Mexican authorities. Ovidio Guzman is wanted by US authorities for trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana into the United States.

The US State Department says he got into the medicine trade after his family Edgar was shot dead in 2008 in Culiacan. Together with his other family Joaquin, they also started buying marijuana in Mexico, cocaine in Colombia and ephedrine in Argentina to produce methamphetamine.

According to US authorities,” El Raton” has control of several covert laboratories that produce between,360 and,200 kilograms of methamphetamine per month. These colorful medicines “ are vended to other combination members and distributors in the United States and Canada, ” according to a State Department report.” 

Other information indicates that Ovidio ordered the payoff of snitchers, a medicine dealer and a notorious songster who refused to sing at his marriage,” the report added.

In October 2019, Ovidio Guzman was compactly arrested, also released on the orders of President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador after a violent insurrection in Culiacan following his arrest. The chairman had justified this blamed decision, arguing that a massacre had been avoided.
